filed on Sunday, May 24, 2015.   12:35pm PT/USA

Ajeya Prabhakar remains on course to defend his title as he secures his place in the quarterfinals of this year's United States National Snooker Championship, while the record five-times Champion, Tom Kollins, defies his age with a tremendous performance to book his place in the last-eight at the Prince Snooker Club in Brooklyn, New York.

Prabhakar played his way to a routine 3-0 win over Don Sitarski, and in the quarterfinals he will now take on Cheang Ciing Yoo, who came through his round of 16 tie against Chicago's Vaishal Talati. The player from Washington state has been a regular competitor in this Championship, and will be attempting to try and advance into the semifinals for the first time.

Kollins scored somewhat of a surprise victory over New Jersey's Henry Wong, a semifinalist in this Championship last year, as he went 2-0 behind and hit back to win the match on the final colored balls 3-2. In the quarterfinals, Kollins will have the tough test of seeded player Raymond Fung, last year's beaten finalist, who came through his round of 16 match 3-0 against Thomas Kalinowski.

The 2012 Champion, Sargon Isaac, is making light work of his opponents as the seeded player sealed his place in the quarterfinals with a 3-0 success over Rizwan Khan, and he will now face Kevin Wong who recorded a very notable 3-0 win over the former runner-up, Romil Azemat.

While the three-times former Champion and seeded player Ahmed Aly Elsayed was the best performer in the group phase, he struggled to get past the very experienced Jeff Szafransky as he defeated the Californian 3-2 to earn his quarterfinal spot. The local Brooklyn player will now match up against Ian O'Mahony, who last competed in this Championship back in 2004, as he came through his round of 16 encouner 3-2 against Laszlo Kovacs.
