Seth crafts a masterful comeback in Doha
filed on Monday, November 21, 2016.   1:35pm PT/USA

On his debut competing for the United States, Amitabh Seth came back from a 2-0 deficit to win his first Group B match 3-2 in the Masters' Event of the 2016 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships at the Al-Sadd Sports Club Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

The 48-year-old was up against Jahangir Habibzadehdehkordi, and it was the Iranian who made a flying start as he went into a commanding 2-0 advantage, however Seth then completely turned the tables on his opponent and strung together the following three frames to record a useful 3-2 win after an epic battle that lasted for over five hours, and keeps his hopes alive of advancing into the knockout stage of the event after losing his first two matches.

Seth will play his fourth group match on November 23 at 1pm (2am Pacific Time / 5am Eastern Time in the United States) against Iceland's Jón Ingi Ćgisson.

After heavily losing his first Group I match in the Men's Event, the three times United States National Snooker Champion Ahmed Aly Elsayed was under pressure to try and gain a win in order to help his chances of qualifying for the knockout stage. However his opponent, the 20-year-old former professional from Switzerland, Alexander Ursenbacher, proved too strong on this occasion as he ran out a comfortable 4-0 winner to leave Aly's hopes of progression in the balance and now must win his final group match.
