The United States has had Thanksgiving Day snooker success at the the 2016 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships, as both Ahmed Aly Elsayed and Ajeya Prabhaker progress into the knockout stage of the Men's Event at the Al-Sadd Sports Club Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The three times former United States National Snooker Champion, Aly, required a commanding result in his final Group I result to advance into the knockout rounds, and that is exactly what he found as he defeated Khalil Busaif of Bahrain 4-0.
The New Yorker's victory booked his berth in the round of 78 where he will face Khaled Alastal of Palestine tomorrow, November 25, at 4pm local time (5am Pacific Time / 8am Eastern Time in the United States).
The twice former United States National Snooker Champion, Prabhakar, finished his Group K ties with a 4-3 win over Jordan's Mohammad Alqraini, wrapped up with a break of 77 in the final frame.
This was the Californian's second group victory to claim the group's runner-up position, and he goes directly into the round of 64 to now match up with Ireland's Thomas Dowling which will commence tomorrow, November 25, at 4pm local time.
In Group S of the Men's Event, Laszlo Kovacs finished with a walkover win against England's Wayne Townsend.
