Denkha succumbs to Doha defeat

Renat Denkha has been eliminated from the Men's Event of the 2022 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships in Doha, Qatar, as the American suffers defeat in the round of 16.

After winning Group H with three straight victories, the 35-year-old from Chicago went into today's round of 32 tie against Michał Kotiuk, and after taking an initial 2-1 advantage over the 22-year-old from Poland, Denkha managed to win both of the next two frames on the final black ball to claim a 4-1 win.

The two-time Pan American Snooker Championship runner-up then advanced into the round of 16 where he faced Ahsan Ramzan.

After the pair shared the first two frames, the 16-year-old from Pakistan won a tight third frame on the final black ball and then increased his lead to 3-1 after securing frame four.

Denkha won the fifth frame on the final colored balls, but victory was gained by Ramzan in the following frame 4-2 who booked his place in the quarterfinals.
