World Games snooker defeat for Denkha

Renat Denkha's round of 16 defeat ends American participation on day two of play of the snooker event at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.

The player from Chicago was up against Austria's Florian Nüßle, who is the current International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Under-21 Snooker Champion, having won the title in Doha, Qatar, back in March of this year.

The 20-year-old carved out a very comfortable 3-0 victory to secure his quarterfinal berth, where he will take on Egypt's Abdelrahman Shahin who constructed a break of 95 on his way to defeating Brazil's Victor Sarkis 3-0 in their round of 16 encounter.

Arguably, the tie of the round of 16 was between the former professional Darren Morgan, who reached the semifinals of the World Championship at the Crucible in 1994, and the three-time former IBSF World Snooker Men's Champion Pankaj Advani, who is a cuesports national hero in his home country of India.

Morgan proved too strong on this occasion however as the player representing Great Britain won 3-1, and he will match-up against Antoni Kowalski in the quarterfinals as the 18-year-old from Poland defeated Qatar's Ahmed Saif 3-0.
