Brazil's Igor Figueiredo has won the 2019 Pan American Snooker Championship after comfortably defeating the United States' Renat Denkha in the final at Q Ball Snooker & Pool in Houston, Texas.

The 41-year-old player from Rio de Janeiro, who is the reigning World Snooker Federation (WSF) Seniors Snooker Champion, justified his label as pre-Championship favorite as he breezed through his Group and knockout round matches for the loss of just two frames.

On his way to the final, Denkha had only been tested during his semifinal match against the Canadian former professional John White, so as a very capable player himself it was an intriguing match up to see if the Chicagoan could be a serious threat to the Brazilian.

Figueiredo's ability and experience on the international snooker stage however has been evident throughout this Championship, and it showed in the final as Denkha struggled to perform. He put up some resistance in the first frame, but Figueiredo raced away into a 5-0 lead.

Denkha managed to secure frame six on a black ball game, but Figueiredo concluded a 6-1 victory after sealing the following frame on the final colors.

For becoming the 2019 Pan American Snooker Champion, Figueiredo will now be awarded the opportunity, by the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA), to compete as a professional player on the multimillion dollar World Snooker Tour for the 2019-20 & 2020-21 seasons.
