Aly pockets Pan American Seniors Snooker title for America

The reigning United States National Snooker Champion, Ahmed Aly Elsayed, has superbly captured the Seniors Event of the 2021 Pan American Snooker Championships at The Corner Bank in Toronto, Canada, and has now qualified to play in next year's World Seniors Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield, England.

These Championships are organized by the Pan American Billiards and Snooker Association (PABSA), of which the United States Snooker Association (USSA) is a founding member, with the Seniors Event featuring 48 players from Brazil, United States and the Canadian hosts.
With the top two players advancing from each of the initial eight groups of round-robin play, Aly lost a group match to Canada's David Puddy which resulted in him finishng runner-up in Group B though through to the round of 16.
In the round of 16 the New Yorker played Canadian Alan Whitfield of who he defeated 3-1, and then he came through a tight quarterfinal against Ali Baba, winning 4-3 against the Canadian.
In the semifinals Aly came up against home player Eddie Galati, who played two seasons as a professional on the World Snooker Tour in the early 1990s, and he came through a comfortable 4-1 victor.
In the final Aly faced another former Canadian professional player in Levi Meiller, and he put in a terrific performance to win 4-1 and gain that coveted place at the 2022 World Seniors Snooker Championship.
Aly will now be hoping to repeat his success in the Main Event of these Championships, with the champion securing a two-year card to compete as a professional on the World Snooker Tour.
