Americans compete in Qatar IBSF Championships

Ahmed Aly Elsayed and Renat Denkha are representing the United States in the Men's Event of the 2022 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships, which commences from today until March 11 at the Qatar Billiards & Snooker Federation Academy in the capital of Doha.
The reigning and six-time United States National Snooker Champion Aly has been drawn in Group E where he will face Aung Phyo from Myanmar, Amir Sarkhosh from Iran and the host nation's Mansour Alobaidli in best-of-seven frames matches.
Denkha, who has been runner-up in the past two Pan American Snooker Championships, has been drawn in Group H and will play matches against Patrik Tiihonen from Finland, Ahmed Saif from the host nation and Sri Lanka's Mohomed Rikaz.
The Women's and Under-21 events of these IBSF World Snooker Championships have been completed, with Belgium's Wendy Jans defeating Thailand's Nutcharat Wongharuthai in the Women's Event final 4-1, and Austria's Florian Nüßle capturing the Under-21 Event after he defeated Thailand's Taweesap Kongkitchertchoo in the final 6-5.
