Seattle set for historic U.S. Women's Snooker Open

Snooker players from around the world are gathering in Seattle for what will be a truly historical occasion in the world of snooker, when the inaugural U.S. Women's Snooker Open breaks off at Ox Billiards tomorrow August 26.

2022 Women's Snooker Open - Ox Biliards, Seattle. August 26 - 28

The 2022 U.S. Women's Snooker Open, which is the second ranking event of the 2022-23 World Women's Snooker (WSS) Tour season, is a joint initiative between the WWS and Ox Billiards, with the support of the United States Snooker Association (USSA) and the Pan American Billiards & Snooker Association (PABSA), and with sponsorship from Microsoft, Littman Lights and Strachan billiard cloth.

The tournament will be played using an initial group round-robin stage, with the qualifying placed players then advancing through to the knockout stage and the champion crowned on August 28. Players from Canada, China, England, Germany and the host nation United States are set to participate.

The number one seeded player is England's Rebecca Kenna, who is currently ranked fourth on the WWS Tour and is also a World Snooker Tour professional.

The players from the United States competing are Mary Avina, Stephanie Drakulic, Marissa Du, Kaarin Lysen, Bridget McNulty, Jaime Miller, Kathleen Stanley and Frances Tso.

Alan Morris, the Executive Director of the USSA, said: "This is such a momentous occasion for snooker in the United States, and I would like to thank all the hard work of everyone involved at Ox Billiards and World Women's Snooker in making it happen.

"I would also like to thank the event's sponsors and most importantly the players who have come to Seattle to play. I really hope you all have a memorable time in competing in this historical moment for the World Women's Snooker Tour."
