The

The English Open is the opening event of this season's "Home Nations" series on the World Snooker Tour (WST), which also consists of the Northern Ireland Open, the Scottish Open and the Welsh Open.

Aly was up against China's Jiang Jun who turned professional at the same time as the American, though has risen to 74 in the world rankings after reaching the final round of qualifying for this year's World Championship back in April.

The promising 19-year-old is an handful for any player when he is on form, and this was demonstrated as he won four successive frames assisted with breaks of 104, 54 and 55 to secure his appearance in round two (Match scoresheet).
