After an agonizing final frame loss in his previous qualifying match on the World Snooker Tour, the United States' Ahmed Aly Elsayed put up a tremendous battling performance to narrowly lose 4-3 to Ishpreet Singh Chadha in qualifying for the 2024 Scottish Open.

Chadha turned professional last year after coming through the 2023 Asian-Oceania Q School, and last month proved how much of a great player he is by reaching the semifinals of this season's English Open on the World Snooker Tour.

As the match got underway in Sheffield, England, it all started very easily for the Indian currently standing at 70 in the world rankings, as he raced into a 2-0 advantage assisted by a run of 83 in the first frame.

Aly started to find his feet in frame three as Chadha fouled on the final blue, to let the American back in to secure a vital opening frame.

A break of 68 from Chadha however in the following frame got him to the brink of victory, though the American responded remarkably to quickly seal the next two frames which included a fine break of 60 in frame five.

With the pressure now back on both players for that qualification spot in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh in December, it was Chadha who handled the situation better as break of 56 helped him wrap up the tie in his favor (Match scoresheet).

Aly's next scheduled match on the World Snooker Tour is in qualifying for the 2024 UK Championship, which will take place in Leicester, England, from November 16-21.
