Defending champion Daren Taylor has booked his place in the final of the 2024 United States National Snooker Championship where he will face Renat Denkha at the Embassy Billiards Club in San Gabriel, California.

Taylor came through after a tough long drawn out battle against Shakib Nihan Karim which lasted for over six-and-a-half hours, after fighting back from 3-1 down to win the semifinal 4-3 on the final black ball.

Karim made a safety error on that final black ball which handed Taylor a straightforward pot, but the New Yorker should be proud of his performances throughout this Championship which have been remarkable considering that in his two previous appearances, last year and the year before, he had never qualified out of his group.

Denkha will be looking to gain revenge on Taylor after he lost 4-3 to him in the quarterfinals of last year's Championship, after he came through a nervous conclusion to his semifinal against Tom Limor.

After a shaky start in which he lost the first frame on the last black ball, Denkha then upped his performance as he secured frame two and then went into a free-flowing scoring mood as he fired in a break of 87 to win frame three, and then hit a run of 53 to take a 3-1 advantage.

Limor, playing in his debut Championship, won another very tight frame again on the last black ball to reduce his arrears to 3-2, however a fortunate run of the cue-ball in frame six by Denkha to snooker the player from Nevada after leaving the last red over a pocket, ultimately proved his downfall as he failed to escape from the snooker.

Limor could not recover from that as Denkha booked his first appearance in a United States National Snooker Championship final, with his previous best performance coming in 2017 as a losing semifinalist.

The champion will be the first player to win five frames.
