Q Tour Americas

Andy McCloskey has won the 2024-25 Series Q Tour Americas event 2 at the Arizona Snooker Academy in Chandler, Arizona, after defeating the two-time United States National Snooker Champion, Ajeya Prabhakar, in the final.

McCloskey had an untroubled route to the final where he chalked-up successive 4-0 victories over Bahador Rahimi, Tom Limor, who last month notably reached the semifinals of this year's United States National Snooker Championship, and Hasanain Alsultani, who last season won a Q Tour Americas event in San Jose, California.

After suffering a defeat in the round of 16 in last month's United States National Snooker Championship, Prabhakar was back in form as he competed strongly on his path to the final. He first scored a 4-0 win over Mustafa Qasemi before then forging a 4-2 success over Zia Sheik. His best performance however came in the semifinals when he claimed a terrific 4-2 victory over last year's United States National Snooker Champion, Daren Taylor, compiling a run of 92 along the way which was the highest of this event.

In the final the pair played out a closely fought first four frames which were shared, but then McCloskey, who disappointingly lost in the quarterfinals of last month's United States National Snooker Championship, got the ball rolling as he sealed frame five and then won the sixth frame with a break of 59 to clinch a 4-2 victory.

Organized by the Pan American Billiards and Snooker Association (PABSA), this was the second event of three in this season's Q Tour Americas series. Event 1 was in Brazil back in March and was won by home player Igor Figueiredo, with Event 3 being staged in Toronto, Canada, next month.

The top performers of the 2024-25 Series Q Tour Americas will qualify for the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA) Q Tour Global Playoff which will be held at the Pine Beach Belek Hotel, Antalya, Turkey, from March 11-13 next year.
